MET(T)A PROTOCOL

Mindfulness & EMDR Treatment Template for Agencies

323-248-7475 X5

MET(T)A is a new and innovative way to envision and implement Addictions treatment that is grounded in the well researched 30 year old theory and practice of EMDR therapy. This approach leans heavily upon the incredible work of those who have explored the use of EMDR therapy with PTSD, addictions and a whole host of issues, and upon the obvious and deep need for trauma resolution to be a focus of sustainable long term recovery.

FORMAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES, CONTENT AND TIMELINE DESCRIPTION / ABSTRACT:

Research shows that a clinician’s own mindfulness practice strengthens the therapeutic relationship, the most powerful predictor of therapeutic outcome, by enhancing the clinician’s ability to be present, empathetic and accepting in their work with clients. Personal mindfulness practice is also a critical component in the delivery of EMDR, as outlined in the book EMDR Therapy and Mindfulness for Trauma Focused Care by Jaimie Marich, PhD, LPCC and Stephen Dansiger, PsyD, LMFT. This retreat, based on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness as well as principles from the Mindfulness and EMDR Treatment Template (MET(T)A) Protocol, assists clinicians in developing and strengthening personal mindfulness practices to build resiliency against compassion fatigue and improve clinical effectiveness.

This MET(T)A Protocol Mindfulness Retreat For EMDR Clinicians will include principles and practices outlined in the book Clinical Dharma by Stephen Dansiger, PsyD, LMFT. Retreats will seek to strengthen the personal mindfulness practices of retreat participants through academic study and experiential exercises regarding the Four Foundations of Mindfulness including Mindfulness of Body, Mindfulness of Feeling Tone, Mindfulness of Mind, and Mindfulness of Dharma.
